2019 LeFore Syrah

Josh's Notes

A secret favorite wine of mine and Drew’s as well. We have gained an intimate relationship with this vineyard throughout more than decade of working with it. This wine comes from two separate blocks in Lefore that were picked on multiple dates for added complexity. The wine itself is almost entirely whole cluster fermented, aged in 48% new French oak, of which some were untoasted, and then the rest large format and neutral puncheons. Aromatics on this wine are entrancing black licorice, dark cherry, small hints of cola, and weaves of green olives and stems. Lefore Vineyard always impresses on the palate- there is richness and lushness and sex appeal. It has tremendous drinking pleasure now but the guts to lay down in your cellar for the next 15 years.
